i am looking for somewhere online to check to buy evaporator core for a 97 model 240. i believe 95-98 models will work, its all r134a if that makes a difference. nissan quoted me over $500 just for the core and the shop will surely tack on another 200-300 for labor.

the evaporator core is under the dash and is what the blower motor blows through when the freon moves through it. i am not an expert on a/c but i was told by a good friend who recently did a swap on a 98 (redtop SR) that he fixed an evap core and it only requires taking out the glove box and having good small hands and/or manual dexterity to get to the nuts/bolts.

im thinking of doing this procdure myself, after getting it uncharged (its kinda already low) and then having someone charge it for me later on, but im in desperate need to save every penny i can on this project. i will be checking carparts.com in about 5 min as soon as im done posting this. if anyone else knwos where i can get one, or who might have one used (in good working order) for sale or for free even, i would greatly appreciate that.
