Default WOW this is rigged up...what would you guys do?

This is a picture of the harmonic balancer on a Toyota Corolla...I think like a 99 or something. My neighbors car...had a problem with vibration so I went to check it out and found this....

Yes that is the balancer WELDED to the, well, whatever is behind there. Im assuming the crank sprocket or the crankshaft itself. LOL. The bolt in there just spins in place. The balancer outer ring is held in place by about 8 bolts/nuts put through where the rubber used to be.

So what would you guys do with this car? I have no idea...

What I wouldn't do is try to pull the front cover off. It aint coming off unless you cut the nose of the crank off with it, rendering the motor useless.

I'd just swap with a good junkyard mill, not like Corolla engines are tough to come by nor expensive

Yea the only thing I can think of is to swap the motor with a good one..

it doesnt look like the bolt is welded to it?

some of the Toyota crank bolts have a very large shoulder to hold the crank pulley...if you're lucky, the weld is just holding a big washer to that bolt.

Well the bolt can spin easily in the hole. But its not coming out lol. It seems to me the weld penetrated to whatver is behind the balancer. I just didn't know if its just the crank itself or there is a sprocket it might be welded to.

Put a floor mat in it so the gas pedal sticks and drive it off the skyway.
