just bought a car and the seller told me all vins match up and the guy says hes a cop so i kinda trust him. title was in his name and everything i buy the car get it home and notice that the vin on the dash dosent match the title. the vin on door jam and fire wall match the title but not the dash. i ask him whats the deal and he says he bought it that way then asking him over and over he tells me they took out the old dx dash a tryed painting it but would not hold paint so they swaped in another dash!?????
is this going to end up fucking me???

people swap dashes all the time. I swapped my dash from the car I wrecked into my new car. No big deal if the VIN on the frame matches then go with that. Unless the VIN on your dash is from a stolen car but what are the odds? lol

 

Its a Honda so i wouldn't be surprised if the dash was stolen.

 

So... easy... Remove the Vin# from the dash.. Duhhhhh....

I have bought many cars with swapped dashes and swapped a few dashes my self.. I just removed the Vin from the Dash.. if it doesnt match the rest of the car..


I wouldnt stress.. if the body vin and Firewall Vin match your title your good.. if it was the other way around.. you would be in some shit now..
