Default Tire Traction vs Price vs Tire Wear

Check Tirerack.com and compare the traction numbers versus price.
Get a sheet of paper and a calculator. List on one line: tire brand, tire size, price, traction and tire wear numbers from the side of the tire.

1.Divide price into traction number. The highest number will be the best deal of traction per dollar.

2. Decide how much you are willing to spend.
--------------------------------------------------
Of the tires in your chosen price range,......Next divide tread wear by traction. The LOWEST number will be the best deal of traction per miles driven.

Other people have their own ideas and are free to post them.......-Bob

Thats a good idea Bob. Generally, I buy the very best tires I can afford. I don't mind paying more for a tire that'll perform better but last less long. Tires are disposable, my life is not.
I don't think it's an area where anyone should skimp. The most important thing on a car, is it's tires. After all, it's the only thing that attaches your car to the road.

However there are LOTS of tires that are far overpriced and give sub-par traction compared to other tires, toyo for example..can run upward of 200/ea for a t1r, and will get shredded by the likes of any true autocross/trackday tire, that will run in the 100-160 range...they wont last as long, but they are cheaper and better, and handle abuse better.
