actually Porshe dude.. if Leslie wasnt running in Novice.. i dare say her PAX time would have been better than yours.. PAX takes the car out of the equation (or tries too) and allows people to actually compare their times.. as a further piece of info.. I taught leslie to drive stick only about 3 months ago.. the only times she gets to drive the WRX is when she comes down on the weekends.. and even then she doesnt get to autoX it very much.. that was her second time..
to put it in perspective..in the same car i was almost 10 seconds behind other people when I first started.. her being 2-4 seconds behind is actually very good.. just give her a little more seat time and she will be owning you out right.. compared to me her line on the track is almost perfect..
anyhow.. bring on the rallycross i say

As far as how PCA classes cars... they're a bunch of fascists. Each of our cars gets it's own class. The rest of the world's huddled masses get this one lump together class. See, aren't we nice for throwing them a bone? (The real reason they do this is so they can give each other alot of trophies and nurse their ego's... )
As far as you fixing my tire... uhhh.. no. I don't necissarily mind plugs for street tires, but for an autox tire, I think that is pushing it. (consider the operating temperature).
Beyond that, you are well aware that I had just put in my Caster/Camber plates on Saturday and that I was running with my 'just guess and eyeball it' alignment. The car wasn't ready. There's an SCCA event this weekend, and the car is nearly all set... imagine that.
As far as your car vs. the WRX... driven by equally skilled drivers, your car should STOMP the WRX all day long.
As for letting you plug my tire...

Yeah, PAX schmax, those adjustments are almost worthless. Thats the reason why I just wanted to compare times directly with Leonard at the FSF auto-x.
But to correct both Leonard and Zate, until I get some better tires and gearing for my car any good WRX should be able to beat my times. Even the PCA people verified that any good 944 will be at least 2 seconds faster on a one minute course compared to a 911 and I have seen enough imprezzas to know they are just as capable. Tis the nature of the beasts on slow twisty courses.
Now if Leslie does not know how to drive a stick that is a pretty big handicap for her. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the novice excuse since I won 2nd and 1st place in my first two novice runs since I knew how to drive long before my first auto-x. If I had been dumped into novice again at the FSF auto-x I would have won another trophy. Unfortunately in ASP I will need to get some appropriate mods or I am SOL as far as winning anything in that class.
But enough of this bench racing crap. 5 days till auto-x time so to paraphrase Zate, lets bring it on . . .

I have never made a big deal about your performance at the auto-x since I had figured you don't drive Zate's car all the time. This despite the fact I have driven a couple of WRXs and both the wagon and coupe appeared to be very user friendly (but too bad my wife wanted the jetta instead).
Now that you have cleared up the misconception about your shifting skills I guess your loss to my 'old beater' (as you once put it) is all about your driving skills. As Zate said, once you get to practice this driving thing a little more (and as old age takes its toll on my car and my skills) you might eventually get around to beating me.
