but if it makes more power moved up front, why not move it? and besides, if the intercooler piping is designed properly using correct diameter piping (sizing usually varies on the size of the turbo of course) the extra piping aint that bad.
besides i wouldnt mind spoolin at a few 100 rpm later and gain alot of hp.

And it shouldnt take too much plumbing to run to the nose of the car. I did it with probably less than 5 feet of pipe and both my turbo AND intake are in the back of the engine.
..unless you use a crappy IC that's 4 feet long and 6" high and do "around the world" plumbing...

UPDATE: since my oversized intercooler runs so close to the A/C line, I rubbed/burned a hole through it....talk about a scare when you are driving down Dale Mabry and see a bunch of smoke through the hood scoop. Oh well, the car is still functional and hopefully Mastro will honor the claim, since they installed it.
Race cars are also usually sponsored, and swap that intercooler out after ONE rally race, and Zate as well as a few others have been known to haul ass down some dirt roads. Race rally cars also use a friggin stutterbox and race fuel to get some more power to go faster down the trail, and sometimes even have to replace the turbo after the run, BUT, we don't, and also, I did NOT say the TMIC would be faster, but it IS more durable, and for a daily driver, I would take a hair of durability, the WRX is NOT a drag car, so having it spool a few 100 rpms later would actually take away from the powerband that actually makes it fun in the dirt.
