Default MAF Cleaner!!!

So I just got a 1997 VW Jetta 2.Slow, It is a awesome lil car for the most part. It doesn't leak or smoke and when I bought it, it didn't run to bad either. Well the other day I decided to replace the cone filter that was on the car from when I bought it, it was dirty and rusted out. Well when replacing it and seeing how bad it was I decided to buy the MAF cleaner and clean it up a little bit. This is my first time actually using the cleaner and I cleaned it per instructions and now my car runs like total shit! I have no power anywhere! I changed the cap, rotor, wires and plugs thinking it might of been a loss there. but nope, I mean it gained a little power but still won't get out of her own way. The compression is fine and she isn't eating any fluids at all either.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? I can't afford to get a new MAF and I don't know what to do. The car when I floor it does nothing, you can just hear the intake loudly as it slowly comes up to speed.

Spray it out again, there is a chance you might have blown some big chunk of shit onto the flow sensor when you were spraying stuff around.

Hopefully second time will be a charm.

I've used MAF cleaner at least 5 times. 4 on my car, once on the g/f's.

You're supposed to clean it and let it sit overnight. since the contents are compressed and it's cold -- the MAF will build a little condensation on the wire and will be "wet". if you crank the car and try to run with it like that, you'll get an over/under volt condition and the car will either shut off or just run like pure poop.

maf cleaner works when you use it right and read the instructions on the can...

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

oh yeah, and electrical contact cleaner works the same/is the same thing. so if you find it cheaper anywhere just get that.

If you pulled a CEL, unplug battery, let it sit for 20 mins. pump brakes a few times, hook battery back up and restart car. But make sure MAF is completely dry first

THIS. Also, the cone filter you used...is it a K&N oiled type filter? If it is make sure the filter wasnt too wet with oil. If the MAF is very close to the filter the airflow may have pulled some excess oil out of the filter and onto the MAF, causing voltage reading issues.

Found out the prob :/ It's a bad cam/crank position sensor. It's just so random that it went out after I cleaned the MAF

but thanks!
