Mark up's.... FTL
Every time I walk into a shop, and ask for a quote, they tell me labor and then go crazy with the price of parts.
Just a few examples of the last few months and the BS price for parts Ive gotten at different shops. Thats why its better to search and buy your own parts.
A Mangaflow Cat for $225...
Flex Pipe for $60..
2 Brake Disc for $100 a peice!
Both engine belts for $120..!$?#@
$350 for a radiator!!!
I found all these parts for way less online and in stores, and most were better brands/specs then what was offered at shops.
Why do they have to mark up the prices soooooo much!? at the discount price they get the parts, why do they have to charge us insane amounts..
This is just ONE of the many reasons not to go to your local corner shop...

Prices are not bad at all really. The main belt for my car is 50 bucks and the Supercharger belt is another 40 so 90 for both. My brakes are 50 bucks a peice. And if these parts are for that BMW then yes there even kinda cheep.
Also getting it from a shop is they know the supplier and your getting a warranty from them. So no calling some dude in India going though the entire return policy.

I suggest either learning how to work on cars yourself, or at least buy the parts on your own and bring them in

there's very few places i would EVER buy parts in at the storefront. automotive engineering would be one.
the rest of these places all have the same tired setup of ricer parts hanging out in a glass showcase, and ricer-walk-in jacked up prices....go to their website and usually the prices are a tad lower...though most of the time it's almost evened out when you add in shipping...or tax if it's in state.
but in general alot of these shops will be expensive, because they cater to people with lots of money who don't care to shop around to save $20 by getting it online from 3 states away.
