Default Civic Type R???

I have heard rumors that Honda may bring the 200hp Civic Type R here in 2004. Does anyone have any more info on this rumor??? Other than more HP and better handling and brakes are there any other advantages over the current Si model? Is it worth thr estimated 2K more?

I would think it would be worth the 2k because there is no other way to improve the handling, brakes, and and performance(40 hp) for less than that.

And you could say you have a Type R

The engine in the Civic Type R is the same engine that's in the USDM RSX Type S. K20A2, I believe. I, for one, don't know why they'd bring the CTR over - it would obliterate RSX sales. Think about it, would you buy an RSX for more money than a Civic with the same HP, that's probably faster, too?

I think it would only have a small effect on RSX Type-S sales and none on the standard RSX. Anyone considering a standard RSX is obviously not high-performance driven and would not even give the Type R a thought. It might have a small effect on the Type-S sales but I think the bulk of the market would still get the Type-S for its refinement. Also the Type R will be so limited production that at max sales it will still only get 5-10% of the Type-S market. Also doesn't the Civic Si directly compete with the standard RSX?
