Default Engine Swaps/Legallity?

*noob*

1.) Should I even worry about getting a 'stolen engine' when I go engine swapping on CL?
2.) Do I need an paperwork on an engine, like where it came from, sales receipt, etc?
3.) How do I do all this paperwork?
4.) In Florida, do I need to register a swapped engine with the state/PD? Or anything like that?
5.) Are engine swaps even legal in this state?
6.) Is there some sort of database where I can go to, to see if the engine is out of a stolen car or anything of the sort?
7.) Do we have any laws concerning modifications to cars of a certain age? Like, if a car is older than xx years, are the laws different? How?

I'm obviously in Florida, have a 91' CRX, and I'm looking into swapping my D15Bx for a D16A6/D16Z6, if that matters.

Thanks in advance..

actually its illegal to have a swap from a different manufacture, like putting a nissan engine in a toyota.. and the engine has to be from a younger car, like you cant put a motor from 1980 in a car from 1990, but no one checks so it doesnt matter..

You should check if the motor is stolen! And if it is you refuse.... I hope, because swapping in a stolen engine has to be the dumbest thing. I mean really. Do you want to support someone that is willing to steal from your car, and others car.. Plus It'll probley get stolen again.

Are you being serious ? So all the RX-7,datsun,toyota, mazda(other), honda swaps are all illegal ? I did not know this.

So If I went to purchase a 1995 2dr Coupe EX civic knowing it is suppost to have a D16 in it and it has a B16 It is illegal ?

FD with a LS1 in it would be illegal too ?

This is interesting. I would of never known.

well dont b16's come in 2000 si's?
and yeah the ls1 fd is illegal, but like i said in florida no one checks.. if we were in a different state that checks cars it would most likely be crushed for emission reasons

240cyanide is right.

There are other things too like it has to be from the same type of vehicle. 350 from a truck cant be swapped into a car.

All b20 swapped hondas are illegal since the CRV is in that class.

Well I know it would be illegal if we had emissions. I remember about 17 years ago we had emissions in florida and they used to check my dads vehicles when they got inspected, but they eliminated that. No more checking #'s. I know in other states it is illegal but didn't know in florida it is still illegal.
