No its not illegal but it does give them a reason to pull you over and try to write you a ticket for something else

 

how can you not fit it in your hatch? Those hoods are small.

But I see what you're saying. Notladstyle and i drove his grand prix hoodless to a store once to pick up a new hood and drove a decent distance without anyone harassing him.

Looks like there's nothing illegal about it.

just the day you go to pick it up make sure it doesn't rain lol

 

i drove my 1.8L around with no hood, got pulled over becuase my headlight was out, but other then that it was just a friendly reminder to put a bulb in, he was like cool car.
