Default Exhaust questions?

I am removing my cat from my exhaust. I have an 01 eclipse gt spyder. The car comes stock with 2.5" exhaust piping. Well i can't find a shop to do it if anyone knows of one let me know. My question is my friend told me about something called a test pipe that comes with the welding already done and a cat delete or whatever he called it. Just wondering if anyone had anymore info on this thing? And if I remove my cat wat do i use to replace my O2 sensor to keep from throwing a code?

Any help is appreciated thanx everyone

Ok...first, removing a cat from a street driven car is illegal, so no shop will do it.
Second, it it wont give you enough power to go through the cost and effort to remove it.
Third...if you have a lower oxygen sensor you will need to find a way to reprogram or trick the ECU to think the cat is still there, or you check engine light will come on, and ECU may go into a safe mode.

The removing cats to make power deal came from the early days of emission controls, back in the early 1970s. Early cats were a different design from modern ones, and restricted flow greatly. Modern cats flow pretty well, and most cars see little gain from removing them. Unless your running lots of boost or spray you dont need to worry about removing it.

A ghetto local shop will do it. But dont remove your cat..... If you think your is clogged, which I doubt on an 01 eclipse, then just have a shop replace it.

You can buy a hi-flow cat. Don't remove your cat, you're not driving a racecar and its there for a reason.

Not lookin for power just wanna see wat it sounds like and if i like it. The car has 2.5" piping so i won't need to change my exhaust piping but i've been thinkin bout upgrading the exhaust car has a cheap as canon on it now but doesn't sound to bad but i want more ( wat car enthusiast doesn't ). I plan on gettin an actual exhaust but if i can get by with just cuttin out tha cat y not try it.

Oh and does anybody know anything about the Test Pipe my friend was talkin bout?

Removing it is not illegal for an off-road vehicle so go ahead and remove it if you want.

Yes, I regularly go off-roading in my Eclipse also.

So you're already got a fart can on your car and you want to take out the cat to make it louder? Christ, thats worse than the Harley guys. Leave your cat alone, your car will sound obnoxious and lose power without it.
