older news, but i thought the tata nano was more along the lines of $6,000.... $8,000 is a little much for that thing.

$6000, $8000...doesnt matter. Its a crap box. A 600cc engine. Top speed of 65 mph. Thats top speed, wide open, engine screaming. I guarantee its not built to run WOT all the time. Its comfortable speed is probably about 40-45. Might be ok if you stay on back roads, but places like 75, 60, 19 it would be horrible. Just imagine how long it takes to get up to speed. I would also bet that build quality and finish is crap. I mean come on, a Smart was nearly $20,000, and its smaller than the Tata.

A person would be better off buying a more substantial used car. For example...there was a very clean low mileage 2003 Grand Marquis in the paper yesterday for $6988.

I'm curious why you wouldn't just buy the 9,980 or whatever hyundai if you want a shitty little car like this. at least that can drive on 75.

Or, like you're saying, a simple used car. Don't old Geos and shit get pretty good MPGs?

Tata Nano was rejected by like 30 countries including the UK,US,JP for one reason. The car didn't have any safety features. It didn't have airbags, anti lock breaks, Seat belts for the back seats... and lots of other safety shit to be fit on the road. Thats when it was $2,500.00 and only a two door. They upgraded the car, added lots of safety features and to me its still garbage. Tata Nano is old news, and will stay old news. This car will not survive in AMERICA IMHO. It cannot compete with the already 8k-10k cars. There is no way it can compete with the Nissan Versa or the Kia Rio. Even if it is sold for 8k flat out the door with TTT. I just don't see this car being sucessful here. I feel so embarassed that Jaguar is owned by Tata Motors LTD. Sir William Lyons must be rolling in his grave..

Idiots will buy this just because its the cheapest NEW car they can get....

Buying a car with under 25k miles will save you a ton of money and will put you close in competition price with this POS.

oh yeah, fuck mpg.

I rather buy a used vehicle that I know I can trust to be reliable, have decent performance, and good on gas...

Used Honda Civic, Accord, TSX,RSX, Toyota Camry, Corolla, Yaris, Nissan Sentra, Versa etc.. etc.. and the list could............ go............ all.............the............ way................ Touchdown
