The Viper
Since the thread has already been steered off course from The Viper I have to say that if I had $45K in my hand and it had to be for a car, I would save a little more and get an Ariel Atom.

well, my only comment is that vipers are... well scary and fast. Iv taken my dad's porsche carrera out to the tracks with the local sheriff who bought a SRT and my god.. that thing flys.
I say go ahead, i mean, life's short, have fun, but my favorite reason to spend lots of money on a toy is... "Hey, why not."
Viper vs. Pump= i think pump wins

To each their own. 488 cid seems to me would be a lot of fun to play with for a wrencher, not to mention the Viper is probably the easiest car to work on since the 60s. I wrench my own car so I wanted ease, simplicity and dependability. The Viper is all those.
Secondly, for a tracker like myself a Viper specific race series adds to the fun of owning one. I'm not into the bitching between manufacturers for rule changes.
But I can appreciate having fun trying to make any car competitive. It's all good.
