Do you have a preferred brand of gasoline?
I refuse to fill up anywhere besides Shell. I will chance running out of gas if I think I can make it to the next Shell lol If I really am going to run out then I'll stop somewhere and put a few dollars of gas in to make it to a Shell. The place I refuse to fill my car up is like these private or smaller less known gas stations I guess you can call it like Sams Club.

working for a private 76 station (Conoco Phillips), i spoke on 2 occassions with the owner about gas quality. IIRC, he was a 60 year old white male thats owned 8 gas stations during the last 30 years and now ones only 1, sold them when real estate was prime. he said to stick with 3 main ones, Chevon/Texaco (same company now, both with techron), Shell with V-Power, and Conoco Phillips with Pro-Clean. he said anywhere else you dont know what youre getting. i personally prefer chevron/texaco. if i cant get that, ill do Shell, if i cant get that, ill do Conoco Phillips.

I typically use Racetrac or 7-11. Ive never had any problems. There is someone, pretty sure its Shell, that has a problem with sulphur in thier gas. This has a habit of ruining GM fuel sending units, resulting a a sending unit and pump replacement, so I avoid Shell.
I do avoid the tiny no name mom and pop places, or any place that just looks dirty.
That and any place that has different prices for cash and credit/debit can kiss my ass.

i prefer bp and hess, i also like shell but apparently i'm not allowed to buy there lol. .... when i had my gsr, i would only go to these gas stations bc she was picky and had to use 93 octane and even then, if i got a bad or cheap quality gas the engine sounded like a diesel engine. my xterra doesnt seem to care though, i still try and stick w/those brands but if i need to get gas somewhere else its no biggie!
