I have a spare set of my stock 15s laying around and I want a good auto-x tire that is DOT legal. Ive narrowed it down between the Yokohama A032R or the Falken Azenis both in a 205/50-15 size. Which would you pick and why? Where can I buy them locally for a good price (since I cant order online with what is left on my credit card)? I want these before the next G-ville autocross in early May. Thanks.

sure buy the yokos for 140 apiece
or buy the falkens for 50 a piece

sure get the extra .5 second with the yokos
sure lose the .5 second with the falkesn BUT STILL BE THE FASTEST ONE OUT THERE

sure get 2 events out of the yokos
sure get 2 seasons out of the falkens

sure pay 600 all round for yokos
sure pay 200 all around for falkens

I just purchased Falkens for my WRX and I have to say that they blew away my initial expectations. The Falkens are THE budget street tire for soloII use. I do not have experience with the Yokohamas but when considering the price and performance of the Falkens its going to be really hard to beat.

I HIGHLY DO NOT suggest the Falkens for street use as IMHO they will wear way too quickly and have a noisey and harsh ride with poor performance in standing water.

Well I was going to get the falkens azenas (215/45/16) but they are on backorder for a while so I went with some 205/45/16 yokos. Both good tires.

The only mods on my car are the kartboy short shifter with the hard bushing kit and the STi transmission mount.

If you are an SCCA member you should check the autox forum concerning SCCA Solo Trial this weekend at GIR. I cant wait!
