I havent taken classes there, but I went there for the SkillsUSA tournament a few years back. It looks like its mostly hands on, but theres DEFINITELY going to be some bookwork involved. There's not much you cant learn from experience, but there is so much you need to know before touching any part of a car.

Ptec is great. I shadowed the auto mechanics class there earlier this year when I planned on going there. The instructors are great and very knowledgeable. The class is mostly all hands on in the shop with a mix of the classroom environment. Tuition was around $4,500 for the course and books then you need tools on top of that. If you haven't all ready you should look into FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid for a pell grant. There are also plenty of other grants and scholarships out there to cut the cost down. The only reason I didn't follow through with Ptec was because I wanted to do something bigger then just work on cars. I'm just a few months away from my A&P now. I would highly recommend Ptec. hopefully this helps you out man
