gee, I wonder why chevy cant stay in business on there own
Moms truck - 04 chevy avalanche. Since roughly 20k miles the truck has made tons of clunking and popping sounds while turning. The car was in the dealership 15 times for this and was never resolved. Finally she just decided to live with it. Speedo at around 50k goes out. A/c constantly makes ticking noise while on.. Started after warrenty expired around 40k miles or so.
Dads van - 06 express diesel. Shortly after buying it, rear end makes loud clunking noise when getting put into gear, cruise control buttons stop working at about 15k. Oil pan is leaking arond the seal along with the power stearing and brake fluid resevours under the hood. Replaced under warrenty. Now, 42k miles and the ECU is fried and needs to be replaced
Keep in mind both vehicles are very well maintained. Both get full synthetic oil changes every 3k miles and are both completely un modified. Both were also bought brand new.

I had an '04 avalanche that never had any issues, and I towed a car trailer with it fairly regularly, now I have an '07 2500 diesel, no problems so far at 25k miles. More cars they make, the more lemons there will be, sounds like bad luck.

very bad luck. His last van was a 95 chevy van with the v6 engine and he had that hting so over loaded its not even funny and he never had any serious issues whatsoever
I had an 02 ranger that was a lemon.. every automaker is prone to a few bad apples. nothing is perfect.
I bought it with a 5 speed and no power options thinking less would go wrong.. worst vehicle I have ever owned. ford was only going to give me 2300 for it on trade in , 3 years after i paid 10,900 for it. I loved my ranger though if it was dependable it would still be in my driveway. It was a perfect little work/beater truck
dodge gave me 6300 for it and I rode out of there with an 05 hemi quad cab 4x4. happy ever since.

I've had my benz in the shop at least eight times for power window failures over the past 3.5 years since I bought it, it pisses me off beyond belief, I decided to not lemon law it because I love the thing otherwise, I've just mentally prepared myself for not knowing if the windows will actually go up each time I use them and to expect a trip to MB tampa every six months or so when they don't. Fortunately so far they've always broken on the way home and in sunny weather.

sounds like a wire getting rubbed bare on something over time...
Yeah I think design flaw in the g-wagen, I've heard of the problem with others too. It's almost always the 'power window regulator', no idea what that is or does but it doesn't seem to work too well. Seven of the eight times it's been the rear windows, so yes probably right on something getting rubbed in the smaller rear doors.

I completely understand that there is a lemon every now and then and none are perfect. Both of the vehicles they bought though? those odds seem a bit to high for me.
weird.
my dad bought an 03 suburban z71 back in either 03 or late 02 and between our whole family we put 70 or 80 k in it, it's had nothing but general maint., well besides the rear end that was done under warentee
my 98 z28 had 99k on it when I bought it, drove the shit out of it at first, sprayed it, couple bolt ons and it needed nothing but general maint. until I sold it at like 140k
nothing but good luck here

My GTI had the transmission rebuilt 5 times at Reeves. Car was completely stock and had the original tires on it when I traded it in at 45k miles (One of the appointment schedulers at Reeves once implied I was beating on the car as well). I don't mind if things go wrong in a mass produced vehicle, it's when the dealers aren't capable of fixing the problem. My fathers jetta has the exact same drive train (1.8t 5spd). He has 103k on the car now and it's never given him a problem.
BTW reeves let me drive home once with a sway bar bolted only on one side (luckily the undertray was keeping it from hitting the road). The only reason I noticed it was because my transmission was leaking fluid about a week after the second rebuild so I was trying to see where it was coming from.
