Please don't remind me. I'm having nightmares of 140hp Corvettes.

I hope those days never come back; but with the economy in the toilet you never know.

I don't think the economy will kill the performance market, the environmental nutjobs and electronic nannies will.

Brings a tear to my eye. The price of a new car these days is outrageous too.

Worst thing that will happen is the vette will become something like the Solstice GXP coupe, maybe with a S/C v6 instead of the turbo 4. Sure its not what it is now, but I could live with that.

Because they've been out for a lot longer? If I'm right, I believe the challenger has been out for over 8 months, and the 2010 mustang is a 2009 mustang, with a minor face lift, and has still been out, for around 3 months? The camaro was almost JUST released, I don't know the date but I think within a month ago? My brother is a GSM for a Chevy store, they are 2 months worth of allocation ordered. They are selling, and theres a lot running around Palm Harbor/Clearwater.

cars you see on the road is a pretty poor way to gauge sales numbers. Your scope is rather limited

The market place is quite different 30 years later. Gas 10 times more expensive these days, and the average buyer is no longer really concerned with performance, and more with utility, navi, and blue tooth connections. It would behoove GM to try a different sales strategy than what they've tried the last 30 years, yes? They should be refocusing their R&D efforts to build cars that appeal to the american buyers they have lost over the years.

um i dont knwo abotu you but id rather have performance over all that other fancy shit. just more stuff to break and when it does its always 1000's of dollars to fix. as long as it has a/c im fine. and iv talked to alot of chevy fans who would jump on a z28. now that the projects been scraped gm is going to loose alot of diehard fans like dodge did when they brought back the charger and made it a 4 door. sedan but to say that all americans are more intrested in luxery items in there cars rather then performance is crap. and if thats the way you truly think your scope of understanding is limited

Well as stated above they are newer than the stang n challenger...also if they are basically still building them to go straight to standing orders then that means few if any are going to dealer lots where they can be bought by whoever.

Also with all the bankruptcy stuff going on Id say GM is limiting thier production till things settle down.
