^does automatic have something to do with it?

Agreed that many people may not want to go out of their way to see the stolen cars, but when GCC itself turns into a stolen rides section there isn't any more car chat at all. It's just depressing to have to see so many threads in here.. I seriously feel bad for the poor people that gets there stuff stolen
But a seperate section would be a good idea IMO so that it's easier to identify what parts to look for and what not..

nothing ever comes of the threads though as said above.

either they're forgotten because they are never recovered, or they're recovered as shells. every single time

Prevention? Folks are more alert and more careful about locking their cars up.

its a great idea and all. but with a seperate section on stolen cars, there will be less viewers. how many newer members on tr are gonna go on the computer and look at stolen cars. to me i think only the people who have stolen cars, plus maybe a few extra people will be paying attention to it. i mean everybody is in gcc all the time so im sure it has more viewers

+1, pretty soon I think we will have a thread titled "Who's car got stolen today?" with all these stolen car threads.

I guess common sense isnt so common after all...

Really folks? We live in a big city, you should know enough by now to lock your shit up, keep your valuables out of plain sight, and if you're going to blow a ton of money modding your car get a good car alarm and/or better insurance.

I have a running theory that most stolen cars are automatics;
a) because of the large overall percentage of them anyway
b) thieves are lazy and for the most part probably don't know how to drive a manual
c) I also suspect most of thieves are in the teenage to early 20's age bracket and probably haven't had much opportunity to learn to drive manual yet
