Higher gas taxes better strategy than CAFE to save GM
Empire your thoughts of taxing a car over 3 years old immediately made me think of Japan.
I for one cannot and do not want to afford a new car payment. Not many of us do. But can I afford the tax if there was to be one?
We have a young ego boy heading up this country with a lot of old guys who haven't gotten their way in a long time finally with a firm hand on the puppet strings.
According to a post treekiller made over in the Autox Forum regarding parts made in the US the percentage is pretty high.
I didn't like reading that the government now owns a part of GM. Does anyone know the terms on this deal?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

seriously you all had to see this coming. GM has a lot of govt contracts as most of you know. You really thought the govt would let them fall? They heavily rely on GM. $65mil over the last couple years invested in GM by the D.O.D. This has been in play long before obamaman was in office.
Govt control over GM was easily forseen after the deal that was struck with AIG.......now under govt control. They have to cover their newly acuired interests somehow.

Oh yeah, its been a long time coming. But that still doesn't make it a good thing.
Its flat terrifying to see the government with such a grasp on some major companies... It is very very easy to see it get so much worse.
The democratic way does not work. period. it is like breaking your arm, wrapping it in gauze so you can't see your bone sticking out of your skin and going back out to pitch another 6 innings. Sure, no one can see that the arm is broken, but after the pain meds wear off, and your pitching continues to suck, you just end up loosing the game.
Right now, as a nation, we're way down on points and we're at the bottom of the 6th still trying to pitch with a broken arm.
