And another $33,371 dollars when they handed out tickets on the second Saturday night, not to mention the 3 points on everybody's license. LOL.
Like SkwervE said, grow up and take it to the track. I'm glad the cops handed out the tickets. Hopefully they do it again next week.....and the week after.....and the week after that. Maybe next time they will confiscate cars. Sooner or later you guys will learn a lesson.

the following quote is why no one should go to these things anymore>quote: Then two Honda Civics spun their tires in the northbound lanes. It was the night's first race.
A beat-up coupe in primer gray flew down the road after them. The tires smoked and screeched as the driver executed a high-speed skid, spinning 180 degrees through a U-turn.
i stopped at least 3-3.5 years ago and thats when undercover cops started showing up. its not worth it anymore! you could be talking to a cop and not even know it. your luckly its only $30. dont get me wrong i use to go but its nothing like it use to be and really i see no reason to go anymore...from the spanish music, pos cars, and people trying to start issues and run there mouth about there stock primer civic
one word explains it all: GAY!
As a former ST. Pete officer I say hahaha. Do you people have any idea how many cops live on 4th and 9th street. It is simply amazing to me that all you youngsters (i'm being nice here) are still getting in trouble for this stupid $h1t. We have 4 tracks within 1 hour of Tampa and none of them charge more than $20 bucks to run all night long.
As for contesting a $30 dollar ticket don't make me laugh. Or better yet please do. I gaurantee that no judge in ST. Pete is going to take your side on this matter. And by the way if you think that you can beat the ticket by trying to get a court date while the officer is unavailable your also dreaming. There is this cool little document called an affidavit (some of you may have heard of them), the officers affidavit is just as good as his/her physical presence or testimony in a court of law, but since St Pete pays its officers jack (which is why I'm not on that particular force any longer) you can almost guaruantee that that the officer will show up for court to gain the free 2 hours of double pay he get just for showing up. The real fun part for those of you who contest the ticket and then lose is that not only will the city collect the money for the violation, but since you have now wasted the time of the court and the officer you will most likely be billed for the overtime, the judges time, any radio/transmission fee's and a whole plethora of fees that you never knew existed. Turning your $30 dollar fee into a $300+ fee.
Stop violating the law and you want get fined. Stop going to places where others are violating the law and you want get fined. Stop contributing to and in events that kill way to many innocents. Go to the track, its close, its cheap, its legal, and you even get proof that you cheap honda civic whooped that twin turbo 800hp toyota supra.

If the police Dept wanted to do something about the street racing, and would let people gather with a police presence, then this would be in the interest of public safety. No racing would take place, but people could hang out and have their own free car show. (Which is why most of the people are there.)
Also it is not a wise Idea to ticket a person for parking when the brake lights are lit up, and the person is obviously in the car, and the car is in motion. Half the tickets issued were haphazardly issued with no initial glance at what dictates parking. I got mine removed because I know the laws, and ordinances, and I was not in any violation of any when the mail in ticket was issued. Lesson was learned and I never went back. There is a great legal venue in riverview, at lowes where everyone can hang out, and no one get in trouble.

so if people are stealing at the mall i should stop going there because is can get a ticket for hanging out in a place where others are commiting a crime? how about the cops actually go there, do something about those racing, not those hanging out, not those who like cars, not those who join car forums. if you street race you desrve to have your ass handed to you by johnny law. if you hang out with your fellow car enthusiasts, you should be left alon.
if your hanging out and do nothing to prevent a crime than its no different than watching someone about to kill another and do nothing to prevent it.spectators also deserve a ticket. if it has been such a problem with racing at a praticular spot those who are just "hanging out" should have done something to prevent racing from occuring and seeing its been a racing spot for so long everyone that goes there knows racing is occuring, then to avoid trouble go somewhere wheres its not known for racing. Do you really think cops have nothing better to do than babysit a bunch of kids(majority)?economy, budget cuts etc also make it hard to pay an officer to babysit... i agree get your ass handed if cought racing, i use to do it and now against it! problem this group of people hanging out turns into trash talk vs. each other civic and eventually a race is made, most meets arent in designated spots and are in privately owned shopping center lots or city/county property. have a meet at a track spend $20 hangout race if needed and if someone starts problems thye get kicked out no problems no trouble and your set to go.....
Two simple rules in life: never accept certified mail, never sign anything you don't agree to. If forced to sign by threat, sign as follows: "Autographed under threat, duress, and coercion by (your name)".
Starve the beast.

if its posted no parking then parking tickets are what can be expected. but to punish those who committed no crime is wrong. and its cheaper to have an under cover film people, sit and watch the tape, write tickets, mail them certified, and have some one else process them to just have a cop(s) show up, write tickets, disperse the crowd and end the problem then?

Another thing that I find curious is that speed/redlight cameras were ruled illegal in florida. So how is a snitch running around with a camera a legal form of evidence?

Well, that's nearly $4000 for Pinellas County.
