Honda's the gateway car?
I was talking to a friend the other day how some of us who have been racing or messing with cars for a few years about what was the "gateway" car that started it for us.This isnt a thread to bash Honda's or anything else since i have seen others start with other platforms.Weed is a gateway drug to stronger drugs hondas were a gateway car to where i'm at today.Discuss and please dont kill the thread and keep it civil.I'll start:
I got a 91 Crx dx after deciding my lowriders werent economical to have a social life(15 mpg doesnt work). It was slow as ballz and eventually i spun a bearing and got a small shop to swap a Dohc Zc(LHT was the only shop around and i didnt know about them yet or TR).Then i installed a ghetto HMT turbo kit and it was pretty quick but still lacked comfort and needed better brakes.
I decided to get into Dsm's since they were ALOT faster for less $$ stock for stock and overall a better car(4 wheel disc,space,ect..)After about 6 years and 13 dsms i got tired of breaking shit since they didnt put as much R&D into the drivetrain as the engine i finally moved into my current car.I still have a daily driver in a STOCK Civic but the 2JZGTE Sc300 is pretty much what i should have started with. But honestly back then the cars were too much and i never thought about it.

72' Cutlass(w/ Hurst 4 speed)was my "gateway car" back in the day. I bought it for $150. Shocks were blown and it looked like grandma owned it (ran like a champ though!). I've owned a Civic and an Accord and never thought I was driving/making it a racecar....just transportation. I understand nowadays Honda parts are cheap and the market is huge, so you do w/ what you can afford.
S14 back in 1997 was my 1st car so not for me,......but they are the "gateway" car because they are cheap and easy to get, but they are soo slow and fwd and then you realize what else is out there and it's only a natural progression up...

<---had a 1990 riced teg, which led to a clean 1994 accord, which then a 1993 Honda CBR 600 was added to the accord, which led to a 2001 Dakota R/T with stock looks and bolt ons, which led to adding a 2005 GSX-R 600, which led to a 2004 Mustang GT which is my current car.
