Arrow turbo blankets

Do turbo blankets cut down on heat significantly?

And does it really improve turbo spool?

Any recommendations of a turbo blanket brands that you like or heard good things about.

A friend uses the blankets to cut down the underhood temp.
Along with stainless heat shields.
He also thinks it helps the turbo charger, but I don't know specifics.......

Show cars usually want to show their bling.

Don't know any brands, though.-Bob

Ceramic coating my exhaust housing cut the external temp from 1500+ to around 600. Keep in mind this was at Sebring and after pretty much WOT for 20 - 30 straight minutes.

I'm sure turbo blankets work but I'm not sure how efficient they are.

I had the stock turbo on my WRX ceramic coated and it provided a noticeable retention in heat. I've read good arguments that the turbo blanket will help with spool as it traps heat in the turbo leading to faster exhaust gas velocity and quicker spool. One thing is that you need to make sure you have 0 oil leaks or else you could have a potential fire on your hands.

a blanket will help cut down on under hood temps. as for faster spooling, i've never noticed any in the past.

just make sure not to pick up one of the bargain brand ebay ones they will catch fire

Q1-Yes
Q2-depends on the size and use of your snail

Recomendations-get a quality one from a race shop rather than an ebay crap that will catch fire.

can you put the blanket on the turbo with the need to unbolting or removal of the turbo?

Probably depends on how the blanket is held on.

I think ceramic coating is a better option IMO in that it has no disadvantages. I've heard that turbo blankets and heat wrap prematurely rust the piping and housing..I would personally ceramic coat all of it and add some extra heat shielding for good measure.
