Obama and congress order GM and Dodge out of nascar..
In a move sure to spark outrage, the White House announced today that GM and Chrysler must cease participation in NASCAR at the end of the 2009 season if they hope to receive any additional financial aid from the government. Companies around the globe—Honda and Audi, to name two—have drawn down racing operations, and NASCAR itself has already felt the pinch in the form of reduced team spending. A complete withdrawal from America’s premier racing series is expected to save more than $250 million between GM and Chrysler, a substantial amount considering the drastic measures being implemented elsewhere

This is a really stupid request on Obama's part and no doubt racially driven.
Obama is not a car guy and he is not a race fan. In fact, he knows less about both than anybody in the world. If I were to ax him "what team has dominated ALMS GT1 for the past five years?" he wouldn't have any idea what I was talking about. He would stutter with his usual "uh, um, ahhh" crap and then punt.
The fact is, when it comes to racing NASCAR has the best ROI of any series. Like it or not. And when it comes to racing Obama has no clue how much GM has spent (wasted) on ALMS GT1 or that ugly-ass Cadillac in World Challenge.
GM needs to scale back it's racing program, but NASCAR shouldn't be at the top of the list.
