The 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship Thread
The FIA has introduced a £40 million budget cap to go on offer to all teams from next season onwards. Although teams are not obliged to follow the new system, they will be offered great technical freedom such as unlimited testing, moveable wings and no engine rev limits if they do so.
Formula One's governing body introduced the budget cap after Wednesday's meeting in Paris to discuss the scheme. An idea first suggested by FIA president Max Mosley, the originally proposed figure of £30 million has been increased following further analysis.
On entering next year's World Championship, teams must state whether they wish to accept the budget cap, and therefore be granted more technical freedom, or continue with an unlimited budget but follow current technical restrictions. The cap will cover the running of the team minus costs for marketing, hospitality, driver salaries, FIA fines or penalties, engine costs, outside expenditure (with evidence of it no influences on the championship) and taxes.
The principal technical freedoms on offer feature moveable front and rear wings plus the loss of rev limiters for engines. On top of this, teams will be granted unlimited off-season testing plus no restrictions on the scale or speed of wind tunnel development testing.

Next year will be even more interesting than this year.

Finally got to watch Bahrian. It was good. A lot of tire bumping made it interesting.
As for the no tire warmers ... jeez even at SCCA events we get to use those.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

as i understand it.. the cars go thru inspection every race and if anything new is found that you can't prove what it costs. your in deep shit.
and from what i've seen from the fia over the years. if a team is caught cheating. it will prob be banned for the season.
i still think its retarded thou.

Can't believe Ferrari did it again!!!

But they were much quicker with the improved car.
Vettel looks real strong for the race, but Massa will have the KERS advantage for turn 1 and Spain is a traditionally a tough place to pass??? Can't wait for tomorrow.
