Default diesel engine question

So i'm looking at the new bmw 335d (for diesel) on the bmwusa website and they list the power and torque as:
Nominal output hp/rpm 265hp/4200rpm
Max. torque lb-ft/rpm 425/1750-2250

question is: why is the max torque given in a range(1750-2250)? Is it variable depending on the temperature? usually you list max torque at the first available RPM. Thank you come again, in advance.

The only thing i could think of would that it might differ between the packages. Maybe their sport package puts the power down quicker, but this is really just speculation on my part. Every article I found stated that the max torque rpm was 1750

modern Turbo-Diesel engines deliver their max torque in an early rev range, the higher you rev, the lower the torque and power output gets.

German car manufactures build the best Diesel engines, every second car here in Germany is a Diesel.

I dont like Diesel engines because of the sound they make and how they put their power to the ground.

a big plus is the mileage!

I read on a mag, Motortrend or C&D, can't remember, that the 335d should be as fast as the 335i if it wasn't for the tall gearing on the diesel one. They did that for low rpm at cruisinng speeds!

Most diesels redline around 5,000-5,500 also so torque needs to be made early.
