guage lighting problem...

a few days ago i got into my car at night and turned my headlights on and lo and be hold....no interior lights im talking guage cluster lights on air conditioning controls and others...nothing checked fuses all good anyone got any ideas?

...did you check the dimmer switch?

Normal problem. Pull out the cluster and check the bulbs. If the bulbs are fine its just a bad contact between the bulbs and the circuit board they sit in. VWs solution is to replace the entire cluster surround. Usually you can just spin the bulbs until they make better contact. Been through that manu times with me old Golf. Nothing like driving around with a small flashlight on the dash to see how fast you are going.

I used to be able to hit the top of the dash above the cluster and they would come back on temporarily. Try that. Hitting something always fixes it temporarily

Whenever. I can send you an email explaining how to do it step by step if you want. I dont think Ill be around this weekend. Its pretty simple though. It should take you all of 10 minutes to do it.

i would double check that you didnt turn your dimmer switch down by accident first.. ive been there and pulled my hair out only to find soemthing so simple...

Could also be a fuse. Check that first.
