Its called S 1766.

http://216.115.245.177/fedleg/fedredhot/scrappage1201.html

It baisically is that the fed govt will fund a program for scrapping cars 15 yrs and older Just because you own a newer car now doesnt mean you always will.

I remember this was all supposidly going on like over 5 years ago. So i guess theyll send some government exec out to the corn fields of Illinois and Ohio and crush every farmers 1970 ford pickup and tell him to go buy a new powerstroke? I kinda think the govt can spend the time and effort on something else more worth while. They tend to only look at one part of the picture though.. like when they mandate emission standards and push fuel efficient cars because of gas shortages.. yet they let jumbo jets fly all day getting like 500 gallons per mile. And lets all go and buy electric powered lawn mowers because they dont put out pollution.. but where did the electricity powering the clean air mower come from? That big old coal and nuclear power plants that also help freshen our air and earth. I hate politicians.. they always get what they want even if its completely illogical

Very true. I dont think they could enforce that. How will the super poor people that live in their cars feel when they cant live in there anymore?

Uhm... you guys need to read more carfully. Theyre not going to force people to scrap their cars theyre going to give people the chance to scrap their cars for credit towards the purchase of a new vehicle.

it wont pass anyways the loss of jobs caused by this would be enormous. and companies like jegs and summit major players in the older parts game would be hit hard so before this thing passes things like this have to be brought to the attention of the fucking morons who try and tell us what is right for us. either way i declare jihad on this bill!
