Default what's the clear plastic people use on their car windows when they break

before anyone says anything slick like a "plastic bag" I'm talking about the CLEAR film that you can pretty much see through and it is thicker and more durable plastic......

on a related note my car window all of a sudden won't move. It's a 97 cherokee w/ power windows anyone have any idea what the problem might be. The motor doesn't seem to be activating. It just clicks when you press to move it up or down so am thinking it may be the motor any ideas? it worked up until like 5 mins ago and NEVER had problems before.......

saran wrap? lol

If the motor is dying you might be able to take off the door panel and tap on the motor while you are hitting the switch to make it go up.

That's a dumb idea, let's think like actual engineers here.

If he does that, then the electrical cords might be dragging on the street and he won't be able to reach the button.

Someone suggested once that it might be the window switch contacts when I was searching once. Sure enough, I took apart the switch and spent about 10 minutes trying to get them to sit back in right, but it worked perfectly when it all went back together! I felt accomplished and happy to know I didnt waste a bunch of money on a window switch, regulator, motor, etc.

Yeah, just pull the switch out and clean/re-seat the contacts. It's free and may solve your problem. I see you said you hear clicking, so maybe the motor is indeed dead, but it's still worth doing.

Also, if your window managed to jump off the track and jam itself it won't move.

On a related note, window locks can stop windows from working. I disassembled my entire passenger door when i thought the window was stuck down.

Thanks for all the responses........

To Kirk: I will try that tonight just to get it up cuz right now it's stuck in the down position.....LOL. I want to get some of that decent clear plastic to cover the window with in case I can't get it up right away.
