Ive been told a long time ago that if you want to be financed it has to be between, lets say a (1996-current)... and if you wantd to go thru a classic car is goes from (way back when-1970). Id think just a personal loan would be better.. but things might have changed.

I think with great credit, you can finance just about anything.

Nope, banks have standards on what they will finance. Usually either 5 or 10 years is the cutoff. I've financed a MKIV through my bank. It was 11 years old, and they bent their 10 year rule for me. The catch is that they look at the NADA value, which is lower than market value for these cars, so you'll have to have a real good down payment to get a loan for a MKIV. My bank also said that on used cars, they will only finance 75% of the value. In my case, the most they would finance was $15K, and I was shopping for a $30K car. Their minimum interest rate is also higher for used cars, but only by 0.5%.

^How many places did you inquire with?

I think you are touching upon just some of the many lending institutes, and there is a possibility to still be able to find someone that will fully finance you on such a purchase. I think it will probably make a difference in rates, interests etc but still be a possibility.

GO ASK THE BANK, WE ARE NOT BANKERS!

Christ, is it that hard to go ask your loan officer over there? Or check your banks website?

I bought a '73 Triumph TR6 with a line of credit once, then paid of my line of credit with a 0% for 6 months credit card. I kept getting offers in the mail for no interest cards at the end of 6 months, and so I'd transfer my balance. That was over 10 years ago though. Not sure you can do that anymore.
