Default Dealing with GEICO INS. CO.

Hey all, about two weeks ago today, my car was stolen. Lost a bunch of valuable tools which were in the trunk, an Alpine CD/MP3 player, and had a bit of vandalism. Was recovered last friday. Talked to the Ins. adjuster, and they want to total the car- the bumper is screwed up, the ingition, door locks, trunk and back seat were all messed up.

Now, the car is a 1996 Dodge Intrepid, with about 156,000 miles on it. I just installed a brand-new motor with 100,000 mile warantee less than 5,000 miles ago.

Geico says the car is only worth 2k, when the cost of the motor was 2k. They also said that they don't do customer buy-backs on total-loss vehicles anymore.

Any advice on how to deal with these asshats would be appreciated- I've never had a car stolen before, so I don't have any experience with this type of shit.

Feels like the Ins. CO is trying to steal my car from me too!

if its company policy to not allow customer buy backs then your just SOL.... As far as everything else you had in the car will not be covered unless you have CPA (custom parts and accesories) coverage.

sorry about your luck. Just be glad your getting the 2k and move on.

you can go get a lawyer to fight the buy back policy but to be quite honest youll spend more in lawyer fees then the car is worth.

LOGIC? You seriously want to invoke logic in a conversation about fake hijackings, missiles hitting the pentagon, and bombs planted throughout the world trade center? I thought it was a given that logic was checked at the door when entering one of these threads.

I've dealt with Geico and they're complete dickheads.

The only advice I can offer you is to fight back (without getting a lawyer since it wont be worth it). Good luck.

My take is that unless you have some assets or the car is being financed (and the financing company requires full coverage) it's not worth insuring a car for anything more than state min. liability insurance. They're going to screw you anyway they can.

Why even bother with insurance at all at that point.

So you think the car was worth 4k? It doesnt work that way. Replacement motors do not add any value to a car.

That goes for both selling a car or collecting on an insurance policy.

So your license doesn't get suspended. I canceled mine once and they notified the DMV within a week. It was retarded and I hope they all die painful deaths.
