lowering a car causing front end to shake over time?
I dont have a ton of details yet but ill give you what I have for now. I should be getting more details soon..
A friend of mine has a chevy cobalt ss and its lower about 1.5 inches. Its an 06 with roughly 40k on it. he took it to a shop and they told him that lowering his car caused some part to wear (he couldnt remember the name, said he thinks it was a drive something but he is goign to find out for me).He said the issue is every time he accelerates it shakes, he says it feels like the wheels are shaped like eggs . now it seems to me the car is to new and hasnt been lowerd long enough to really start having any issues. Anyone have an idea what this would be?
Got word already, they told him its the axle shafts or half shafts thats causeing the issue... Input?
Also, it has the gm stage 2 kit so could it possibly be something due to extra power on the car?

lowered cobalts are known to get axle bind(warped shafts) because the shafts are at too much of an angle to begin with and then lowering the car makes it even worse. A good friend of mine has 2007 cobalt SS and had the same issues within a few weeks of lowering his car. He ended up having to replace both half shafts.

So is there any fix to the axles being at too much of an angle other then raising it back up? he wants to leave it lowerd if its possible

it happens. when the half shafts wear down you get shake under acceleratoin. replace them and it goes away. some cars (hondas) have shafts that last longer than others. it seems logical that your friends cobalt gets a shake under acceleration if lowering it put more stress on the shafts. theyre just worn and need replacing. it happens to hondas too. vinny you should prob get yours replaced on the driver side. the shake will prob go away.
