I drive a fat, boat-like DSM, I don't know of this left and right turning you speak of.

My solution is simple- don't drive a car I can't afford to write off on a road course. Not the greatest solution in that it forces you to drive older crappier cars than you otherwise might. Hopefully the track day insurance idea will catch on and get a little cheaper. At $200-300 HPDE stuff is already pretty expensive- add the cost of insurance and I'd start to question whether it was worth the expense.

Insurance companies are crooks, plain and simple.

hmmmph... I was always under the presumption that if I wrecked my shit on a track, I was on my own anyway. I guess that just comes from years of racing shifter karts, where no matter who's fault the wreck is, I'm paying for it

the waiver actually waives you from the tracks insurance, not yours.

yeah, this is nothing new, you're putting yourself in an environment where there is a higher chance of something happening and only for a recreational reason, i understand it not being covered, but racing isn't cheap and IMO if you can't afford to fix what you break, you have no business racing

on a side note though as much as we pay for insurance and as little leeway that they give us on the street, they SHOULD cover it

what alot of people don't realize is that they will held liable for any damage done to the track as well - yup that guard rail you hit at 80mph that totalled your race car has to be payed for too, hope to god the organization you run with has some coverage for that kinda stuff

Yeah alot of large org have coverage for liability etc..but not for dmg to your vehicle.

HELL if you think insurance companies are sneaky, get this! Mazda has been known to actually VOID warranties on new mazda vehicles because they signed up for The Mazdamotorsports group, which gets you discount on parts etc.. Because people were basically admitting that they were racing their vehicle.

I have also heard cases of reps going out to tracks/drags strips etc and recording vehicles seen racing, and therefore voiding their warranty. This is just something I have heard, but the first things is damn true.
