I think those were the tires that came on my friends 03 Focus SVT, no grip, fast wearing, and noisey. Not a bad price though, I'd say you're getting what you're paying for.

As long as I am in this thread, I should mention I have used eagle f-1's in the past. They even had a similar tread design. I was disappointed with how not sticky they were.

Just an FYI.

great tires, they wear fast tho

but the softer the tire, which gives more grip, the faster it wears, he doesnt need tires like this on his car

just my .02cents

im not impressed with goodyears at all. in my old shop i never dealt with goodyear unless i had to. people would request them but i have no clue why. i was a bridgestone-firestone dealer, and stand by them. wont run another thing on my cars. on my 07 CTS it came with goodyears from the factory, after 25000 they started cracking then both front tires got bubbles in the sidewalls. junk in my opinion. get a bridgestone potenza or something comparable to that. you pay a little more but you get what you pay for.

Another cheap tire that has good wear rating and wet grip is Khumo Exsta Ast or somehting like that. Not the best tire ever made but it gets the job done well for a daily driven tire.

They leave a lot to be desired, even for "cheap, fun tires." Try the Sumitomo HTR Z or the Ecsta AST. They seem like the kind of tire you want. I hear the new Yokohama S.drive tires are good for treadwear/grip. They are supposed to be a notch or two above the ES100s.

Try out Kumho Ecsta SPT's. It's a "high performance" summer tire. Not bad for the price, I had them for about a year with no complaints. They go for like 60 bucks a piece.

Falken ZE-912. Got good reviews in Grassroots Motorsports budget tire comparison recently, it placed first. I think Consumer Reports also placed it first in all season tires last year. I had some on my WRX and liked them, though I never got a chance to really test and compare them. I drove from So Cal to Kansas last winter on them. They are no dedicated snow tire, but they got me around safely. I am throwing a set on my STi for my next trip.
Tried to find the results of the GRM budget tire test from a few months ago and I found that on Nasioc (I give my mags away when I'm done so I couldn't just look it up.) I had Ziex 512s on my old DSM for a while and I liked them pretty well. The new 912 is supposed to be even better. Worth checking out.
