I am excellent at driving a stick shift. I've never owned a car that wasn't a stick. I've been driving and racing a stick shift since I was 15 years old. I seriously don't think I've ever stalled on accident, even from the first time I let the clutch out. Driving a stick is just fun..... most of the time.
all three of my current cars are manual
I learned to drive stick shift like 20 years ago on my second car - '74 Dodge Dart with a three speed column shifter, after that experience every car has been easy to shift in comparisson

Man, I could absolutely blast my shifts in my old DSM. I had gotten the tranny and shifter setup where I liked them, and I programmed a clutch cut into the ECU which made shifting even better. According to my datalogger I shifted in .2 seconds, or less- the 4 Hz resolution of the logger wasn't good enough to pick up my shifts, most of the time it just jumped from 6500 in one gear to ~4000 in the next. One of the best compliments I ever got was when I did a pull down a back road near my friend's house. When I pulled into the garage one guy unfamiliar with my car asked "hey, is that thing an automatic? I couldn't even hear the shifts, just instantly from one gear to the next." I was pretty proud of that one.
Actually, if you want to see some sweet shifts, check out the latest Pinks All Out at Englishtown. The guy who ended up losing in the final had an 86 or an 89 Mustang with a Gforce tranny and he was a hell of a driver. Great reaction times every run, great launches every run, and his shifts were perfect. 9.90 manual tranny car is very impressive.
The funniest part of that show is when the owner of Gforce, the company, misses his shift to second and blows the run racing the guy above. How embarrassing is that? He made sure to blame himself and not the tranny.

We learn how to drive stick in driving school.
imo automatic is for big floppy space cruisers and old people.
or roads with no turns, including drag strips.

I have the driver mod and have not stalled out in a while, last time I came close to stalling out was when I had a girl doing the head boob on the knob and almost stalled as I rolled up to a light. Oh and Nissan your sister said she likes how the shifter on my car is on the dash and doesn't get in the way.
