I will be leasing a 4 door car with a hatch soon and am looking for opinions on what you think. My peramiters are Under $300 lease around 12K miles per year with decent power and mpg. I have some choices going and would like opinions or add a car you think fits.

VW GTI (I am an Audi guy but the A3 is pricey) This is what i'm leaning towards.

Mazdaspeed 3 (maybe too expensive?)

WRX? (mpg seems a bit low)

I know the VW is the least powerful but I'ts the only one I drove and love the bodystyle the most. Also a base option car is probably what I can afford in this price range.


PS. My Expedition is for sale well below Blue Book, I will give a TR discount under 12k.

WRX has horrible gas mileage. I myself would stick to the VW, the Mazda3 would be okay but the VW would better suit you.

if your going to get a 5 door get a mazda 3 hatch or the mazda 5 whatever it is.

Good God, don't get the mazda5, the absolute ugliest car of their lineup, and of many cars...

By the way seth, all those cars are 5 doors.

Those are good choices, but you really need to think about your gas, and how much distance driving you'll be doing.

I meant the 5 door mazda 3 (wasent sure if they used to call it the mazda 5 or not)

Here are a few unconventional choices, might not be your bag, but might be worth a look:

How about a Dodge Caliber SRT8? I know, its kind'a ugly, but it's got tons of room inside, and I'll bet you could arrange to buy it for the same price you'd lease a less powered and less equipped VW.


Mini Cooper Clubman ( I think there is a "S" version)


Chevy HHR SS. 260HP stock, 21/29 mpg, lots of room, and I'll bet you could get one for a great deal.
