This thread used to have many informative posts from smart people. Now it seems a lot of newbies want in on the action and start saying stuff that don't even matter.

Registered letters of "Notice of Intent to File a Lien" have been mailed to Joe, his Mother Lisa, and the Credit Union.

Lawyer has been contacted

Where we are at right now is that our Lien will take 60 days to go through, at that time we will be able to petition the Credit Union for them to write-off the car as a total loss and sign the title to us, OR, pay the total amount owed PLUS 60 days of storage at $30 a day. That will be the almost $16,000 PLUS $1,800 storage. The storage fee will continue to accrue until a check or title is received.

So long story short, we will probably end up with the car. I doubt the credit union is going to cut a check for $18K+ for a car that they have financed for less than that.

As far as the BBQ, I'm going to start getting that organized over the next couple of days.

I need to know where you guys would prefer it. We can do it at Don Garlit's Museum here in Marion County OR we can do it down in/near Tampa. I would expect a better turn-out in Tampa but I am not aware of where these kinds of events are usually held down there and as such would need help securing a location.

YES SIR the car is safely stored away, legally secured, and not getting released until a court order says otherwise.

It's accruing storage fees as I type and other than being piss ass broke I couldn't be happier with the situation!

Thanks to everyone for the support whether it be monetary or otherwise, all is appreciated!

Aaron out!

honestly I doubt the posts from the so called "smart people" even matter very much. when you think about it only what happens between the shop the state and the douche is what matters. all the extra is just extra and all the extra info people have dug up on this douche may or may not actually help. I hope it does. I wanna see this kid pay with cash or time served. hopefully both. I am rooting for the shop all the way and I see no reason to not comment to that effect. all the bashing of this loser is just sport to entertain the masses anyway, right?

game on.

Being a small business owner myself, I can easily relate to the situation you've become involved with. I too have over extended myself numerous times to please a customer...fortunately I've never been dealt a bad hand like this. Now...on to a more current issue. I had planned to donate to your cause...$50..until I saw some of the remarks being feed back to Joe's brother, Chris. From what I gather, Chris has asked that he and his family, with the exception of Joe, be left alone since they too appear to be as much a victim of this scammers habits as anyone else. With that, I would ask that you to appeal to the idiot e-thugs here to reframe their less than acceptable...at least to one who had planned to donate...remarks aimed at Chris and his family.

I personally find it hard to sympathize with the mother. I am sorry she had a heart attack over this but for her being left out of the discussion, I figure her chickens came home to roost. she raised a criminal that steals from people and "dates" kids. somehow she raised him to think that was acceptable behavior. am i wrong?

Awesome deal. Good to hear things are working out for the better. You should list the car up on eBay as "Joe Dono's" car. Or put big stickers down the side of it saying "Sponsored by Dono".

He cant do time served because he never actually stole the car.

EDIT: Dono probably wont get a lawyer but if he did it would be an interested case
