I dont see how anyone could say it isnt a skyline. Its chassis code is R35, following its R32, R33, and R34 brothers.

 

just look at chassis/drivetrain and suspension designs between the R34 and R35 and you'll soon find there is no argument that they are VERY different.

The R31 and R32 share the same chassis code but they are also very different in chassis and drivetrain design.

 

I know they're different. But really, the car is a skyline. The New Civic Type R looks nothing like the original civic, but its a civic. The SRT4 is a neon, and the GTR is a skyline. You can't tell me it isn't a skyline.

it cant really be a skyline when nissan still sells a completely different car as a skyline in japan (our G37)

 

the skyline is what we call a g35/g37

the GTR is not a skyline

its a whole different car.

 

So why does it carry the chassis designation and the trim designation the skylines carried?

 

I think it's funny that before the GTR was heard of, everyone said I don't give a fuck if it's called a Skyline in Japan, it's not a Skyline - about the G35-7 shit...

Now the GTR is out and people are saying No it is not a Skyline, the G35-7 shit is

 

there were skylines before the r30, but those werent branded as Rs...

and like jordan said the r31 was a diff chassis from the R32+

and GTR is the name of the car (like an ultima GTR) not a trim specification

 

I'm just saying, if honda released a supercar, with a chassis code immediately following the Civic Type R, and called it the Type R, everyone would know its a civic. Whichever engine they put in it.
