A different question on importing a car
Lets say if I won the lotto, could I import a small production number car? Like say a Caparo T1 or an Ascari A10?

You could but in most states it would be for "off road" use only. Since it's not crash certified, most states won't let it on the road. However, you could go through a Canadian importer and somehow get it titled in Montana (I believe, read that somewhere, cannot find it anymore on the internets).
Long story short, I was looking at a Toyota Sera (the weird Paseo like thing with gull wing doors) and was reading the info that the Canadian importer had. They stated that there are a few states that they can get to title the vehicle so it can be re-titled elsewhere. It's a process I would guess.

If you won the lotto you could buy the 5 (or what ever number) and get them crashed tested by the feds. Once proving that they are safe for our roads you could then import how ever many you wanted (If they aren't safe the feds assist you in what you need to do to them to make them safe). This is what Motorex did but there just wasn't enough demand to keep their business a float.
Your alternative is to hire a damn good lawyer and attempt to prove that your car should qualify under the Federal Show and Display law. Funny enough I attempted this back in 02-03 with the R34. Needless to say I failed miserably

i think it was bad business practices that didn't keep them afloat, importing skyrhines and other cars i don't think was their primary business, i'm pretty sure they were a shop too, but as many people want the skyline, and them being the ONLY people who can get it, would keep them afloat
