Default Do ricers feel the need to race themselves?

I'm sitting at dinner at varsity club and all the sudden hear the sound of a huge fartcan and tires peeling. I look over to east lake road and see a blue civic si with a cf hood and stickers etc. Flying though traffic. It just made me wonder why waste the gas and such and idiot at the same time. Thought id share my ricer sighting with the rest of tr.

Dude so do I. I drove like a grandma on my last tank and even drove almost half highway. I thought I was on my way to a 400 mi tank...nope. Just before 300 the needle went woosh right down to where it normally is and I managed to get 2mpg more than I do when I beat on it. Oh well.. I saved 2.50. Not worth feeling like im getting passed by a schoolbus.

I can't speak for a slow Civic Si, but some of us who have decently quick cars like to actually drive them. Believe it or not, between work and school, the highlight of my day is usually the drive home. If there is an opening with no cars, it's fun to open her up or let the rear get a little loose. Whether a random pedestrian or varsity club occupant hears or sees my car, makes no difference to me since I'm driving the car to indulge myself and not you.

With that being said, I pretty much have the same reaction when I see people with crappy or slow cars that are trying to impress others. That is ricer status.

Oh yes trust me i can completely understand opening up/having fun when you have a open road ahead of you. I always enjoy seeing a open road then hearing/seeing a fellow enthusiast romping on it a bit.

But when theres traffic and a civic driving through it like there salmon cones and he's jeff gordon its a bit different know what i mean? Ricealicious baby!
