Default What's a good torque rating for an impact wrench?

I'm looking to pick up and an impact wrench, and am curious what's a good torque rating. Not looking for anything professional right now, just something that can handle occasional suspension work, and is powerful enough to handle stuck bolts.

You REALLY shouldnt use a torque wrench to loosen ANY stuck bolts. The reverse feature is mostly so you have an idea on how much torque it requires to break it free.

When it comes to any wrench, I prefer only Mac or Matco. DEFINITELY worth the substantial price, especially as long as you dont lose it; lifetime replacement. Snap-On breaks too much and is too expensive for the same top tier quality as Mac/Matco

I'm meant stuck as in overtightened, not rusted on. As I said, I'm not looking for anything professional right now, so Mac and Matco or not an option. Regardless, I'm just looking for torque rating recommendations, not brands. Thanks anyway.

Are you talking about the 10-150 ft lbs and 20-250 ft lbs increments kind? Something like that? A clicker I'm assuming

i sure hope not, lol cuz thats not meant for breaking bolts free. lol. he will throw off the calibratio quickly.

look for blue point, or go to a pawn shop and see what people have turned in. you might find a matco or mac for a decent price. but you are better off with a breaker bar. my $0.02.

Nope just a plain ole nonadjustable impact wrench with only forward and reverse and a max torque rating. All I'm asking is what's the minimum torque rating that would still be usable?

I think you guys are confused. He said an impact wrench, as in it runs off of compressed air, not a torque wrench.

Edit: I'd say anything north of 500 ft/lbs is enough.

Oh wow, I cant believe I misread that. I feel stupid now, and I apologize for the confusion.

From what I've noticed, the big expensive names are little more. Most of the time, it will actually have the whole thing outsourced.

I have a Campbell Hausfeld that happens to not be the best, and coincidentally a Snap-On/Blue Point (same company) that works ridiculously well. A middle of the road Harbor Freight one should work excellently as well. I agree with the "anything north of 500 ft lbs" as well. Mine is supposedly 425 ft lbs (I imagine more) and I havent come across anything that couldnt be loosened from it.
