Are there any roads around here with CURVES?
Wow, i didnt think anyone would mention Ozello. Eight miles of twisty goodness, i used to work at Pecks at the end, lol trying to make it to work on time made me learn that road like that back of my hand. Then theres Ft Island trail, not as twisty, more like fast sweepers for the most part, but still a fun road. Tallahasse by the railroad tracks can get pretty interesting too.
I'm glad I don't have problems finding curvy roads
That one is 10 minutes away from my house, its a official hillclimb race track
käshofen - Google Maps
starts left and goes to the right through the forest to the next village, with several meters of height difference.
It's very narrow, average speed I am going there is 140-150 km/h, Race cars go over 180 km/h.
thats just one example.....its the total opposite of Florida because I have massive problems finding any straight roads! lol

i wouldnt say to much coz this guy might take out bikers for going too fast.
I was bored a few nights ago and a friend and I decided to do a late-night reconnoiter of some of the roads mentioned in this thread after a long and unsuccessful Google Maps search for new and interesting roads in eastern Hillsborough.
We plotted out a course to check out several roads relatively close to each other and a reasonable distance from our starting point in Temple Terrace. We ended up with path heading straight down Busch Blvd all the way out on Gunn to Racetrack Rd and the #1 most hyped driving road on tamparacing, Patterson Road. I've been hearing about this road for years, and each time when I tried looking it up on Mapquest or Google Maps it sent me to a 1/2 mile straight road paralleling the Veterans. I finally figured out where the real Patterson was after reading this thread and manually searching the map until I found it.
We almost didn't run Patterson because as we sat stopped at a gas station chowing down on some Lunchables a whole string of cop cars shot by us in the direction we were headed with their lights on and sirens blazing. We decided to take our chances and hope they weren't headed exactly the same way as we were and hit the road.
The first run through was more of a scouting run, getting the feel for the road and looking for danger spots. Immediately I got the sense that to have any fun with this road you'd have to drive a LOT faster than the speed limit, at a truly unsafe speed for the road. Some sections were relatively safe with better visibility around the corner and no houses on either side. Some sections were tight and bumpy blind corners with no visibility, houses on either side, and the only runoff zone was a ditch and some trees.
I also got the sense that most of the people driving the road for fun were running at these unsafe speeds. There were tire tracks from locked-up tires into every corner and often they lead right off the road and into a banged-up tree on the other side. The road is not a constant twisty series of curves- it has some long straightaways, long enough to build up too much speed to scrub off hitting a sudden sharp corner at the end if you're driving too fast.
After coming out at the other end and pausing for a second I was seriously disappointed. Here was the most talked-about road on TR for the last few years and to drive anywhere near the limit meant putting other peoples' lives on the line with all of the blind corners and blind driveways along the way. Nevertheless, I decided I had to push it harder to get a feel for it after driving so far to check it out.
On the return trip I pushed it harder, pushing through corners using the old rule-of-thumb by doubling the yellow speed warning signs and then pushing for more depending on my visibility around the corner. 2x the speed was child's play- I got close to 3x the speeds listed on some of these signs and I still maintained a huge margin of safety until the limit. This was with a POS 240sx on 195/60 Futuras and stock suspension. The limits of this car are very low and thusly very well known to me. When I started pushing it on the way back in this POS car and saw how fast I was going I started to get an idea of how fast people in more capable cars (aka most other cars that would try it) must be going and couldn't fathom driving in such a reckless manner on a residential road.
That's the sticking point in the end- there are houses dotting the sides of the road. Go kill yourself driving fast on an empty road- I almost have in the past, and I think that's perfectly within my rights. But putting other peoples' lives on the line driving 100 MPH down this street and risking somebody backing out of their driveway right in front of you...
