Default how to ship heavy head?

i sold my built head and now have to figure a way to ship it, a regular box wont work because of its weight and size, anyone know a good way to package a heavy 2ft long 10" wide piece of aluminum? im thinking ups is the cheapest way to go....just seeing if anyone else has experience of shipping something like this.

That would work. Definitely go the crate way. UPS might be pricey for something so heavy. I know Greyhound used to be able to do basic shipping services...IE you pay them a small amount of money to ship the part, they put it in the luggage compartment and deliver it to the closest bus terminal to your buyer where he has to pick it up.

I'm not sure if they still do this.

I just woulda boxed it up ina coouple of boxes and some bubble wrap. I really doubt it that ways that much, I mean domestic heads come shipped in little boxes as well, and some of those are steel heads.

Don't ship ups, your prob going to pay a lot. Use the greyhound method as stated above.

i shipped v8 cast iron and aluminum heads in cardboard boxes. indy ships there 2000 buck heads in cardboard boxes. make a box the right size. then make a sleeve for it out of another box. also put a piece on the ends too. if you want you can fill the open space with news paper too.

i believe the iron heads i sent where 47lbs each. one per box.
