Hey guys, just getting this out there, hoping it might help - It seems that our Yellow xB was stolen some time last night or early this morning - It was just gone from the driveway this a.m.

Identifying Features:The license plate # is [removed] and there is a death cab for cutie sticker on the rear passenger side window, a yellow robot on the left rear passenger side window, a 'hawaiian' style flower on the top right of the rear window, and a yellow sticker with a bunch of flip flops in the bottom center of the rear window. Currently looks all stock except for being lowered slightly. From my ScionLife profile (whew) 2005 Solar Yellow xB RS02 #0820

One neighbor says she heard my xB drive off at ~5am and another neighbor says her husband walked outside around 5 and saw two (Edit: white males about 5'9") guys trying to get into my STi and told them to leave - they are going to dust my STi so hopefully they find something...

 

TR hsa a serious problem now! The theives are stealing more than hondas

 

They were going for the STI and settled for the xB?

That sounds like more chop shop than just joyriders.

i was thinking the same thing..... most likely they would get more money for the STI ... but still get something for the XB

Now that I think about it, might be someone you pissed off as well.. Someone you might know even... Most people just give up and go to a completely different area, especially after being caught trying to steal the STI by your neighbor.

 

I'm not sure whether to think if it's joyriders or someone trying to sell it to a chop shop. I would think that professional thieves would know that the STi has a disabler chip in the ignition (I think there's an RFID in the key or something) that makes it shut off (unless there's some way to get around this) so it's tough to steal unless you tow it away, which nothing can defeat.

My wife had left my digital camera in the back window of the STi, so maybe they were just trying the doors to get an easy item to pawn... If they were joyriders, I would have thought it would have turned up by now... I know that the longer it goes, the less chance I have of seeing the car again.

The idea of someone with a personal vendetta against me did cross my mind - someone stole my MP3 player from the glove box a few weeks ago the one time that I left my doors open... I figured that was my own fault for leaving it open, though. Now that this has happened, it seems like I'm being targeted, but I can't imagine who would, or why. I don't have any 'enemies' and I haven't pissed anyone off, I'm a pretty nice guy .

wow, i cant believe they took an Xb, so i know theres nothing special about the engine or anything so most likely they took it for parts.

 

i hope scion doesnt turn into the new civic's being stolen.... sucks..

tampa is getting bad, real bad...its yellow, it cant be that damn hard to find...

 

We just got a call from the police - they recovered the xB in St. Pete and are processing it now. No word yet on the condition and all of my wife's cleaning supplies (about $500 bucks worth including a vaccuum and floor cleaning machine) were gone out of the back.

I guess it was joyriders, but who knows. Hopefully they left some prints. Scumbags.
