go for the trade. The non vtec preludes are actually pretty easy to work on, they are essentially Accords. If it has the h23a, then the motor has tons of hp locked in simple bolt ons.

me too. I only pay $72/month full coverage on my 2000 corvette!

Back on topic.... I would look at the car values for each and go with which ever one is worth more because it will eventually get stolen anyway and why not get more money from your insurance company.

i'm sure you're aware there's much more to insurance rates than just the output of the motor, right?

I'll be a bit helpful, here.
You're looking for a DD, So...
Civic.
Cheaper on ins.
Better gas mileage.
Much lighter (Read: needs less to go ''fast'')
I'm not a honda basher.
In fact I don't look down on anyone for any car they drive.
Go with the civic.
you're already familiar with it, and it looks pretty clean.

very true, thats one of the man reasons i dont wanna trade, im so firmilar with my civic, i can feel nething wrong with it, i've worked on it so much with my own hands, i dont know hows the prelude, hows it realy, they can say its perfect all they want, it doesnt mean anything, but lets put this in the equation, i dont know if the prelude is in perfect shape or not, but i know my civic is great, and runs strong, now my civic does smoke a little which will only get worse, but im planing on taking care of that over the summer. I cant make up my mind! lol i never hear anything good about preludes... just like 1st gen DSMs, i had bad luck with my 91 GST....

i dont want something like that again.. we'll have to w8 and see.

my civic has 144k miles, the lude has 132k miles.

i forgot to mention the lude has new rims, tires, and new paint, and a new clutch, but my car has things to match, new tires, new sunroof, new radiator, etc etc, new brakes, alot of oem parts.
