Default Sad day. Fred Cox is no more.

I tried to call Fred Cox today to get my car worked on. No answer, so I rode by. They've gone out of business.

They were a tampa icon in the auto repair biz. My family has been going there since the 1980's. Now where will I go?

They've changed owners several times, so I doubt the service was as good as the original owner.

I'd try Billy Nelson's down the street at Florida and Bouganvillia(sp?). Its right behind the Hess. They have a pretty good reputation there, coming from someone who used to manage the NAPA at Florida and Fowler so I delt with everyone in that area.

How are they on Old Cars??? I hate trying to find another shop, and having to explain what the hell 'KingPins' are.

Exactly. Most would probably return the car to me after 2 hours, and tell me that my Ball joints are good. It's like having a bad piston in a rotary.

BTW: Fred Cox replaced my King Pins, tie rod ends, idler arm and draglink last year.

I'm not sure what kind of mechanics they have there now, but they are a pretty big shop so they should have some decent people working there.

A friend of a friend owns a cadillac only shop, but considering the guy is less than 30 years old, he probably wouldn't be much help on your car.
