i've had the same problem before, check the vac lines for cracks, look for cracks after the maf in the intake, clean the maf. it's going to probaly be one of those things. also if you haven't done it in a while change the fuel filter for some reason with old bmws that clears up a lot of problems

I just asked my brother if he could have a look at your problem.
he told me that the already given answers are describing exactly the things he would look for....so you know what to check, right ?
EDIT: go to your local BMW dealer and get some new tubes.

that would be the best....and check on the pulleys. maybe you should have a look at the spark plugs if they are alright too.
