What band do most police use around here? I bought a cheapo from walmart, (was on clearance for like 10$) I drove right by a speed trap of 4 cops on 49th st and got not so much as a beep. Drove down 19 near 118th construction with no cops at all and got solid alert lights and massive beeps, wtf? Might have been some damn surveyors.

Whats a good detector that does the job well, but isn't expensive?

How much do those run? Anything under 100$ do the job?

 

I have a cobra 97xx series. Bought it for like $115 on Newegg. Works great.

From 2.5 years of having it: I've been hit with Laser 3 times. Twice on 75, once by a sherriff on McMullen Booth Rd.

X band I totally ignore.
Same with POP. X and POP make lots of noise on the interstate from every 10-15th truck you pass. Also some garage door openers pick up on the X.

I'd rather have a radar detector that is really sensitive and gives false alarms than something that misses. Anyway, I also find:

Sheriff's usually use K, but I've picked them up on KA before.
Ku you'll probably get in podunk towns, if there anymore.
Ka**** very important. FHP 100% of the time. Locals and sheriffs sometimes.

For the locals, it's a smorgasbord...basically depends on what they can afford I guess. Watch out for KA and K.

 

Oh, and yeah, I'm upgrading to a Valentine 1 in the immediate future. v1's are like $400 lol.

hey, you get what you pay for. you want one thats good, hand over the money. you gotta figure, get hit with radar twice and a good one has paid for itself. (that is, if you slow down soon enough)

Any body got any experience with those radar jammers?
I've always been more curious about those than just detectors...
i figure a combination of the two would be perfect...
