so ok i had loaned a some what friend some cash and he didnt have the money to pay me back so he gave me the title of his car (civic) and signed it to pay what i loaned him. i got the title tranferred to my name but he has the car and keys and hes saying i need to give him another grand first. i dont know where he live or a number to contact him by. what should i do? im not giveing him anymore money. its my car and he has it.

yeah you have a signed title in hand. Its your car. Tell him he has a week to figure out something before you call the cops. But the problem is, you dont know his phone number or where he lives? Why would you give him money then? And did the title not have his address on it?

Can't you do title history checks or whatever to see who owned the car, and then find the address and contact him that way?

Either way, you have a title to a car thats missing. You know who has the car, you just can't find them. Tell the cops he stole it.

 

Did you ever see the car? Did you compare VIN Tag to Title? Depending on the story you and the other guy give, the cops might call it a Civil matter and not get involved, one way to find out.

sounds like its your car..

cops will side with you..they will just look at the cash that you loaned to him as money paid for the car seeing you go the title to hold onto..it would be best if you had like a aloted time period wrote down with a certain amount of time the money had to be paid back with both your sigs on it and a 3rd party.
